2021: A Year in Review
A year like no other. 2021 will always be close to heart for the Sekuritance team. What started from just an idea back in February 2021 ended up being a widely recognised project across the globe. Just as we near the end of 2021, we feel lucky that we get to do what we do thanks to our dedicated community and awesome team. It’s important to celebrate a company’s successes so we wanted to reflect on our main achievement throughout the year.
We started the year with a set of goals, which helped set the path that Sekuritance took. The team worked very hard and managed to exceed expectations.
Let’s take a look at some of our accomplishments every quarter:
Q1 2021
Building the Technology
During this stage, the team was duly building the KYC, KYB, AML and On-chain Analysis components of the ecosystem, connecting to multiple data-sets and providing a rich product suite, with the vision of empowering businesses and individuals with compliance-as-a-service.
Becoming a Fully Registered Company
Given that Sekuritance came about in the second month of the year, the aim here was to get industry certification and trademark registration, which then occurred in Q4, and in March the company became fully registered.
Q2 2021
The Team was Formed
Founded by Jonathan Camilleri Bowman, the Sekuritance team was always a team of contractors working on a vision to conquer the RegTech sphere, but it was in Q2 where this dream became a reality, shortly after registering the organisation, many of the contracted individuals joined the team. During this time, the team team had been formed, and a wireframe for the sales and marketing team. A good start, to a good team.
TrustSwap: First Client
Before launching Sekuritance’s $SKRT private and public sale, the team found themselves with a new client in the blockchain space, one which continued representing Sekuritance up until today. Back in April 2021, the TrustSwap team had gotten in touch with Sekuritance to utilise its KYC onboarding and transaction monitoring Sekur.Transact product for all it’s IDOs via their launchpad. The team were overwhelmed, and took on the project wholeheartedly. Up to the end of 2021, the team has aided in the onboarding of over 20 public sales via TrustSwap’s launchpad.
Focusing on the $SKRT token
In April and May, the team performed its private sale, and subsequent public sale via TrustSwap & Gate.io, where the token was oversubscribed by around 8x, a fantastic accomplishment for the team and all stakeholders involved. The token was then listed on Gate.io and liquidity was then added to Uniswap. This was a great achievement as it was the first step to getting recognised.
Q3 2021
Sekuritance Marketing Push
Sekuritance’s team began with a strong marketing campaign straight off from Q2, but the real results only came to fruition during Q3. The team had already brought about marketing and PR agencies from Asia, the Middle East and also the western worlds to tackle a new RegTech product within the blockchain space. The team took part in multiple influencer campaigns via video, AMA, podcasts, interviews and so forth. Most of the recaps can be found on the project’s socials, and on the Sekuritance blog.
$SKRT Holder Benefits
In Q3, the community was introduced to the $SKRT Adopter Club. This was the project’s thank you to their most loyal customers, effectively launching 5 early Adopter levels: SKRT.Adopter, SKRT.Insider, SKRT.Evangelist. SKRT.Partner, SKRT.Believer. All these levels have their own benefits depending on the amount of $SKRT tokens held. Here is the first post, and the second update to the SKRT adopter tiers. Get to know more about our levels here.
First Event for Sekuritance: Money 20/20
On the 21st to 23rd September, the team attended the Money 20/20 Conference at the RAI Exhibition and Convention Centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands. This conference involved fintech discussions which featured 1000+ industry leaders, C-level executives, renowned speakers, and innovators who are playing a key role in the disruption of the fintech industry. Just like the future events that took place near the end of year, this conference was a huge success.
DigitalBits Partnership
In July, the team partnered up with DigitalBits for the launch of the DigitalBits AS Roma Store via their partnership between Zytara and AS Roma. Sekuritance’s KYC product helped to work hand-in-hand via MiddleC to help onboard users and verify their identity and eligibility of the purchasers. The partnership approach combined elements of KYC, AML, Sanction Screening and more, to check whether they are eligible and of good standing to purchase $XDB to be used on the AS Roma store.
PayAccept Partnership
Sekuritance partnered up with PayAccept in a bid to boost the security of its L2 blockchain ecosystem and wallet. PayAccept helped leverage Sekuritance’s pool of RegTech solutions, such as in-depth on-chain analysis and advanced KYC/AML analytics as a way of complying with local and international requirements.
Q4 2021
Listing on ProBit
In October, the Sekuritance ($SKRT) token was listed on ProBit with the following trading pair: SKRT/ETH. The ProBit listing was part of Sekuritance’s ongoing efforts to make the $SKRT token easily accessible to the largest number of players around the world. You can find the token pair here.
Event Mania
Nearing the end of 2021, the team attended multiple major conferences in Malta and Dubai. All conferences were a huge success. The team met a lot of different people and secured some very good collaborations. The team attended several events including: The Gulf Blockchain Summit, Global DeFi Investment Summit, Safari Networking w/ WBS, World Blockchain Summit, Crypto Expo Dubai, Crypto Regulations Gathering, Gitex Global, and the Future Blockchain Summit. You can learn more about the Dubai conferences here.
During CED2021, the team won best KYC provider of the year 2021. The team then attended another conference happening in Malta — SiGMA/AIBC. Here, they won another award for Best KYC Provider. You can learn more about the SiGMA/AIBC experience here.
The Portal (UI) Launch
This quarter was the most hectic, yet most successful one for the team. During this period Sekuritance finally launched its UI, under a closed loop — providing access and utility to all current $SKRT holders, and previous users of the platform. Fully-fledged platform launch will occur over the next few weeks — providing further access for all users and businesses to take advantage of an easy-to-use RegTech hub, on a pay-as-you-go billing engine utilising the $SKRT token. You may access the portal here.
Signing up is currently available.
First IDO Sole Launch: AIMx
In November, the team partnered with Aimedis to launch its $AIMx token on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC). The IDO occurred on the new Sekuritance Portal. You can find more information about the launch here.
Multi-Chain
This quarter, the team launched the $SKRT token on MATIC. Polygon was a great fit, as it provides a Layer-2 ecosystem network to streamline opportunities for future development and community growth. You can get to know more about it here.
NFT Drop
Approaching the end of year Sekuritance launched the first of the Sekuritance Button Collection (one of the many unique character sets) as NFTs on the Polygon chain. This launch was a huge success as the NFT got sold in a short period of time. As promised to the community, a chunk of these proceeds have been used to adopt a dolphin with the Whales & Dolphins Charity and thus contributing to a very good cause.
Plans for 2022
- Releasing the fully-fledged platform for all
- Developing further $SKRT utility
- Introduction of new 3rd party datasets to further enhance aggregation and accurate results
- Introduction of credit scoring
- New partnerships outside of the blockchain sphere: RegTech, FinTech, Banking etc.
- Metaverse Possibilities
- MFA: New Authentication Methods
- RegTech via NFTs (For Artists & Marketplaces)
- More to come…
That’s a wrap for 2021. We wish the community an amazing 2022, and we absolutely thank you for all you have done to make the Sekuritance dream a reality this year. We can’t wait to see what the coming year brings.
Happy New Year Everyone!
