What an exciting week! It was all about new partnerships and preparing for news we will be announcing next week. Let’s take a closer look at some of our updates for this week.
Partnership with Oz Finance
The first partnership of the week was with Oz Finance. Their core objective is to provide Open Zone Living in a decentralized world. Sekuritance will be guiding and aiding Oz Finance in filling their cap table aiding the onboarding of their investors at a private level. Source of Funds vs Source of Wealth
As money launderers and financial criminals use increasingly inventive and sophisticated methods to conceal the sources and uses of illegally obtained money, firms have to work harder than ever to establish the source of a customer’s funds and wealth. This means you need to implement an array of regulatory measures and controls such as Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and transaction monitoring measures to protect your business, your assets, and your customers and contribute to the fight against financial crime. Two of these measures involve investigating and finding out the Source of Funds and the Source of Wealth. It is important to note, that these things are not the same, they are two separate terms and have their meanings. Read more here.
PEP Screening and Why it’s Important
PEPs are specified as high-risk customers due to the increased opportunity for them to acquire assets through illegal means versus ordinary individuals. This includes things such as taking bribes and money laundering. For this reason, PEPs must be identified and screened in financial institutions because of their risks. Identifying PEPs and their risks are generally referred to as PEP screening. IT is an essential screening process for the best implementation of AML compliance, especially in financial institutions.
